EYHA Mavericks Select Hockey
What is Select Hockey?
Higher skilled players in House Hockey are encouraged to try out for Select Hockey. Players at this level are expected to have an above-average hockey skill though not quite ready for travel hockey. Select players must also be enrolled in house hockey.
Select team fees will be set by coaches and can vary, since it depends on amount of ice time, number of tournaments, etc. For the '25-26 season, cost per child is $900 which includes uniforms. Tournament locations also can vary widely though typical cities one might expect to travel to include Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Detroit, Louisville, Chicago, Buffalo, and Nashville. Select hockey tournaments often occur on Thanksgiving weekend, MLK weekend, President's Day weekend, and any weekend in March once house hockey is finished.

What aged players are appropriate for this program?
For the 2026-27 season, EYHA will field Select teams at the 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U age levels.
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Select runs concurrently with the house season (typically August through March) when ice is more plentiful around the city. We plan to have our tryouts in early May 2026. You'll find more details on Select Tryouts, under the "Programs" tab.
